Synopsis:

Tragedy opens the wounds a family has long struggled to ignore in this powerful emotional drama. Bennett Brewer (Aaron Johnson) was a bright, handsome, and talented young man who was suddenly killed in an auto accident late one night while driving home with Rose (Carey Mulligan), a girl who had been a close friend for years but had only recently become romantically involved with him.

Bennett's death devastates his family: his mother, Grace (Susan Sarandon), is overcome with grief and can't stop wondering what his final minutes must have been like; father Allen (Pierce Brosnan) is forced to turn away from his mistress (Jennifer Ehle) and try to comfort a woman he's no longer certain he loves; and brother Ryan (Johnny Simmons) mourns Bennett while becoming painfully aware that he will never live up to his late brother's example in the eyes of his parents.

As grief slowly brings the family's emotional troubles to the surface, two unwelcome characters come into the picture -- Rose, who has discovered she's pregnant with Bennett's child, and the truck driver (Michael Shannon) who unwittingly took Bennett's life. The first feature film from writer and director Shana Feste, The Greatest received its world premiere at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

Sandra Bullock asking his family to forgive me

Actress Sandra Bullock on Thursday broke his silence on reports that he cheated on his Oscar-winning wife, telling People magazine he used "poor judgment" and asking his family to "forgive me."

Jesse James, a custom motorcycle manufacturer and reality TV star who married Bullock five years ago, said he took responsibility for his actions but stopped short of admitting that he had an affair with another woman.

Bullock, 45, who won her first Oscar last week, on Wednesday pulled out of the London premiere of her hit movie "The Blind Side" after U.S. celebrity magazine In Touch Weekly published claims by a model that she slept with James last year.

"It's because of my poor judgment that I deserve everything bad that is coming my way," James said in a statement to People.

"This has caused my wife and kids pain and embarrassment beyond comprehension and I am extremely saddened to have brought this on them. I am truly very sorry for the grief I have caused them. I hope one day they can find it in their hearts to forgive me."

Her suspicions grow over the following weeks, and when Catherine has a run-in with an escort named Chloe (Amanda Seyfried), she hires the ravishing blonde to test her husband's fidelity.

After each encounter with David, Chloe reports back to Catherine with all the sordid details. But the further the experiment goes, the less clear Chloe's motivations for taking part in it become, and the more the untrusting wife begins to fear that the situation has spiraled out of control.

Rated: [Rated nr]
Runtime: 2 hr. 8 min.
Genres: Drama
Director: Marco Bellocchio
Cast: Giovanna Mezzogiorno, Fabrizio Costella, Michela Cescon, Fausto Russo Alesi, Filippo Timi.

Synopsis:

This unusual and offbeat historical drama rests on a little-known conceit. Though seldom discussed in history books (and reportedly undisclosed for half a century), fascist dictator Benito Mussolini conceived an illegitimate son by a woman named Ida Dalser -- a son Mussolini allowed to be born, acknowledged, and then promptly denied for the duration of his life. The tale begins in early 20th century Milan, with Benito (Fabrizio Costella) working as the socialist editor of a controversial newspaper called Avanti.

His dream in life involves triumphantly leading the Italian masses away from monarchy and toward a "socially emancipated future." He met the young and wealthy Ida (Giovanna Mezzogiorno) once before, in Trento -- where they enjoyed a brief exchange; they re-encounter one another during Mussolini's period at Avanti and it becomes clear that Ida has fallen deeply in love with Benito; she believes wholeheartedly in his ideals and his future as the leader of Italy -- to such an extent that she sells everything she has (her apartment, furniture, jewelry, and the beauty salon she owns) to fuel the development of his newspaper, Popolo d'Italia.

While the two become romantically entangled, with Ida positively magnetized by Benito's charisma and Benito hooked on a lust for power, Benito quickly switches spiritual and political allegiances overnight, changing from an atheistic socialist to a deeply Catholic fascist -- Catholic, because an allegiance with the Vatican will enable him to wrest and retain control over Italy's government. Benito and Ida marry and parent a son together, Benito Albino Mussolini (circa 1915), but the marriage certificate soon conveniently disappears and Ida learns, to her horror, that Benito has married someone else.

She unwisely begins to protest the situation -- so loudly and persistently that she's first forced into house arrest and then shoved permanently into an insane asylum -- raising key questions about the fate and future of her young son. On a stylistic level, director Marco Bellocchio films this historical material with the passion, theatricality, lyricism, and tragedy of a classicist Italian opera.

Katrina kaif has to do a village belle number like Madhuri dixit

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif told when she joined Farah Khan to shoot for her movie Tees Mar Khan?

Well, she had to match steps with Madhuri Dixit!

In the film, Katrina will be dancing to the famous Dhak Dhak Karne Laga (from the film Beta) that made Madhuri Dixit a sex symbol overnight!

“Katrina Kaif is working hard to do justice to Madhuri Dixit’s steps. She has been told to perform on the track Dhak Dhak which is one of Bollywood’s historic numbers,” says a source.

Kareena kapoor and Shahid kapoor not to promote 'Milenge Milenge'

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor and ex-beau Shahid Kapoor together to promote their film "Milenge Milenge" have been called off. While Shahid had no problems with the idea, producer Boney Kapoor feels the publicity would be doubled if the stars do the promotions individually.

Asked if he'd be willing to promote the film jointly with Kareena, Shahid said: "Yes, I'll do everything I can to promote it. Of course, I'll do everything in my power to see the film gets properly released. It's my film."

However, Boney Kapoor felt otherwise.

"We're getting Shahid and Kareena to do separate promotional activities. That way we give them space to be comfortable with the situation and also we get twice the publicity for 'Milenge Milenge' that we would if the pair promoted the film jointly," the producer said.

"Milenge Milenge" is special because the former couple will be seen together after Imtiaz Ali's lovable "Jab We Met" in 2007. Kareena is currently dating
actor Saif Ali Khan.

Shahid has not only decided to go all-out for "Milenge Milenge", he has also been taking interest in the release date to ensure that it hits screens at a time when it is likely to get the best audience.

Cast: Zoe Kazan, Mark Rendall, Maryann Urbano, Franklin Pipp, Hunter Canning.

Synopsis

Ivy (Zoe Kazan of Revolutionary Road) returns home to Brooklyn for her summer break from college. She misses her boyfriend, and calls him frequently, but they can't quite seem to connect. She spends a lot of time with her longtime friend, Al (Mark Rendall of 30 Days of Night).

Al clearly has a longstanding crush on Ivy, about which he's never done anything, probably out of some combination of fear and respect for their friendship. His confusion is exacerbated when, due to family circumstances, he's forced to stay with Ivy and her mother (Maryann Urbano) during his break from school. As the summer goes on, Ivy deals with her epilepsy and the slow, painful dissolution of her relationship, while Al starts to look for love in other directions. Bradley Rust Gray wrote and directed The Exploding Girl, while his wife, So Yong Kim, served as a producer.

Fans of the Cure will recognize the title as a play on their song "The Exploding Boy," the flip side of "In Between Days," which was the title of Kim's directorial debut, on which Gray served as co-writer and producer. Release Date: Mar 12, 2010
Rated: [Rated r] violence and language
Runtime: 1 hr. 55 min.
Genres: Drama
Director: Paul Greengrass
Cast: Matt Damon, Greg Kinnear, Brendan Gleeson, Amy Ryan, Khalid Abdalla.

Synopsis:

United 93 director Paul Greengrass explores the aftermath of the Iraq invasion in this feature adaptation of author Rajiv Chandrasekaran's literary exposé of the same name. A one-time Baghdad bureau chief of the Washington Post, Chandrasekaran was present as American forces attempted to set up a provisional government on the grounds surrounding former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein's opulent palace.

The resulting governing body, according to critics, existed in a bubble so far removed from the grim realities of the Iraq War that it failed to properly assess the needs of the people. In this fictional thriller set during the U.S.-led occupation of Baghdad, director Greengrass and screenwriter Brian Helgeland use Chandrasekaran's novel as the foundation for the story of an officer who joins forces with a senior CIA officer to unearth evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Matt Damon) is certain that Hussein has been stockpiling WMDs in the Iraqi desert, but in their race from one empty site to the next, they soon stumble across evidence of an elaborate cover up. As a result, Miller realizes that operatives on both sides of the conflict are attempting to spin the story in their favor.

Now, as Miller searches for answers made ever more elusive by covert and faulty intelligence, the truth becomes the most valuable weapon of all. Will those answers prove pivotal in clearing a rogue regime, or escalate the war in a region that grows increasingly unstable with each passing day? Amy Ryan co-stars as the New York Times foreign correspondent who travels to Iraq investigating the U.S. government's allegations about weapons of mass destruction, with Greg Kinnear appearing in the role of an additional CIA officer, and Antoni Corone essaying the role of a colonel. Brendan Gleeson rounds out the main cast for this Universal Pictures production.

Bollywood Actor Vivek Oberoi says he lost his childhood sweetheart to cancer when he was 18.

When I was just 18, I lost my first love. My childhood sweetheart since the age of 13 died of cancer,' he wrote on his Twitter page.

The actor, who is the brand ambassador of Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA), says by helping those who cannot afford treatments he feels he's honouring his late girlfriend.

'Every time I help CPAA, spend time with the patients going to the hospitals on Rose Day or celebrate my b'day with terminally ill children, I feel I am honouring her memory,' he added.

Aamir Khan turns 45 on Sunday

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan turns 45 on Sunday, March 14. Though he’s never known to throw lavish parties, this year there won’t be even a low-key private celebration.

“I will not be celebrating my birthday this year,” Aamir told a news agency without specifying the reason. But it’s clear that the actor is still bereaving the death of his father Tahir Hussain last month.

Rather, on Sunday Aamir will be in Delhi to attend a conclave where he’ll be talking about the future of cinema on the same platform with Hollywood director James Cameron, the maker of the mega-blockbuster Avatar.

Throughout 2010, Aamir is going to be busy with his three in-house productions - Peepli Live, Dhobi Ghaat and Delhi Belly. Of the three, he stars in only ‘Dhobi Ghaat’.

Speaking about his criterion of choosing films, Aamir said: “I am attracted to scripts that move me emotionally and when you have such stories to tell, it doesn't matter how unusual it is, people connect to it... I've no idea what audiences want. I only have an idea about what I want.”

Priyanka Chopra to cheer for India at the Hockey World Cup

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra was in Delhi yesterday to cheer for India at the Hockey World Cup, at the match between India and Argentina.

The actress said, “I’m really excited to finally be here, cheering for India and the game, ’cos it is our national game and it needs all our support right now. I was in the US for three months, shooting, and have just arrived in India.”

Preity Zinta said Yuvraj is our most valuable player

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta said: "We have a very talented side and we have strong will to go and win the tournament,". "Last time we had seven injured players which no one could help. I believe an IPL team is judged by the strength of strong domestic players and not the international players. We have three-four new domestic players and I hope they will strengthen the base," she added.

Preity was here to participate in a health event organised by UNAIDS. Yuvraj Singh led Preity's team in first two editions of IPL matches but this time Sri Lankan all-rounder Kumar Sangakkara is set to lead Kings XI Punjab.

Asked about the change in captaincy, she said: "Many IPL teams are re-shuffling in batting, bowling and other departments. Sangakkara is a talented man (to lead the team). But Yuvraj is our most valuable player. In our team, I want to say, there is no place for 'I'. It's 'we'. We as a team will win or lose."

Aamir Khan has pulled the brakes on his career

After enjoying one of the biggest successes of Indian cinema, Aamir has pulled the brakes on his career.

Currently he is only focussed on his wife’s directorial debut, Dhobhi Ghat, and his next production Peepli Live. Soon after that all his attention will be on nephew, Imran’s Delhi Belly.

So dearies, chances are that we won’t be seeing AK in a full-fledged role till 2012. Hmmm... suddenly ‘all izz not well’ with your fans, AK. C’mon, you can’t do this to them, yaar.

Bollywood actress Shruti Haasan Walt Disney in South India

Bollywood actress Shruti Haasan has bagged a Telugu film to be made by US studio giant Walt Disney in South India.

It would be a high-budget epic fantasy flick starring Siddharth and Shruti.

To be directed by National Award winning writer-director Prakash Rao Kovelamudi and produced by K. Raghavendra Rao, the film will be a fantasy adventure set in the fictitious land of Sangarashtra.

The film which will also be dubbed into Tamil, would be Disney’s first locally-developed studio project aimed specifically at southern audiences, Disney said in a press statement.

Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee is in Australia

Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee is in Australia, promoting Indian cinema and encouraging peace, friendship and harmony between Aussies and Indian emigrants down under.

Accompanied by director Rajkumar Hirani during the inauguration of Indian Film Festival in Australia, Rani said the event was aimed at promoting Indian cinema.

The festival takes a good number of Indian cinematic masterpieces to Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and later on to New Zealand. The event acquires a special significance in the wake of a spate of attacks on Indians in Australia, some of which have been racially motivated.

“Just a few people who believe in hatred... we can’t kowtow to them,” Rani said.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan arrest another big catch

The terror jigsaw is becoming clearer with the arrest of Salman, an operative of the dreaded Indian Mujahideen. He has echoed the statements of the security agencies who said the IM benefited the most from the heat that was on the Lashkar-e-Toiba.

Salman, being interrogated by various agencies, told the police that the IM had planned to "come back with a bang. He said they were plotting to undertake more attacks in India, but had slowed down in their process for the want of manpower.

A core team of the Indian Mujahideen had been arrested last year following a series of blasts that rocked the country. Sources told Salman is being questioned about the Pune blasts and also on where all the recruiting of new cadres is taking place.

During his interrogation, Salman further went on to state that he had joined the IM in 2005. At that point of time the outfit was just being built and none of the Indian agencies had a clue about the outfit.

He says the SIMI had split into two factions, the moderate and the non-moderate one which was headed by Safdar Nagori. He also said that the IM had branched out of the Nagori faction of the SIMI.

The Intelligence Bureau says Salman is a big catch. He knows a lot of the inside working of the IM and he has been playing an active part in its activities. His name had first cropped up during the Batla House encounter. He had, however, managed to give the police the slip along with his other accomplice, Shahzad who too is in the custody of the Delhi police.

Salman was barely 16 when he joined the IM. Given his age, he was nicknamed Chotu and he has been a trusted aide of the outfit. He was in the know of all the serial blasts, but is alleged to have played a major role in the Delhi blasts.

He says during his interrogation that everything was going well for the IM until the arrests the previous year. The IM had used technology to the maximum with its IT module and in the years to come was planning on more spectacular attacks. He said that the shortage of manpower became a problem and they were finding it hard to get dedicated people. However in the past 6 months, the IM had gone on a spree recruiting cadres.

Arjun Rampal is back in Ra.1 Movie with Shahrukh khan

Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal is back in Ra.One. Mumbai Mirror had reported earlier that with Arjun Rampal’s back problem persisting, Vivek Oberoi could end up replacing him in the film, but regular treatment and medication has put Arjun back in action.

A source reveals, “Arjun was always the original choice to play the villain. Director Anubhav Sinha was very keen to have only Arjun because he perfectly suited the role and his persona is exactly what the director was looking for. His back problem was the only hurdle.” The source continues, “It’s true that Vivek Oberoi had auditioned for the role and was being considered as a back-up candidate. But things seem to be going well with Arjun and we’ll see him sharing screen space with Shah Rukh Khan again after Om Shanti Om in which he also played SRK’s adversary. Arjun will have to perform a couple of stunts, but being a SFX movie, the director will make things easier for Arjun through the use of technology.”
